update  2012 : coming up to one year and Dan is seen cruising Maui with a handbike thanks to generous support of those who know and love Primo...You can still donate.  Please take time to contact Daniel to offer your encouragement and donations.  Still not much progress with spinal injuries of Daniel’s nature and advances in this field of recovery are  slow. 

On Monday March 21 2011 our good friend and Kauai athlete Daniel suffered a serious spinal cord injury in a paragliding accident on Maui.  He is facing a long and difficult recovery.   Prayer and support  are needed but also he  will be in need of financial support. Daniel came to Kauai as a teenager from Colombia.  His gentle spirit and easy smile made him many friends overnight.  When I saw him riding his mountain bike I knew he was something special.  I,  chugging in granny up a steep  single track slope,  here comes Daniel flying by me ...doing a wheelie to the top!  Daniel has competed and finished at the top in nearly every race in the state.  Jamba Juice, Tri Kauai, Hanalei fun run,  Powerline, open ocean swims- everything.  He is a great waterman, athlete, friend and  to me, he is Primo.   He needs his friends!
